No. 20 GameStop Toyota Race Report - Atlanta

No. 20 GameStop Toyota
Atlanta Race Report

● Logano brought his No. 20 GameStop Toyota home in sixth place on Saturday night.

● Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. took the top-3 spots.

● Logano started 11th after a qualifying lap of 32.11 seconds.

● When the caution came out on lap 25, Logano brought his car down pit road for service in fifth place.  The GameStop crew got him back on track in third place in a sign of the fast pit stops that would come the rest of the night.

● On several occasions, Logano was driving the fastest car on the track, but the consistency was not there to challenge the leader.

● Logano finished in the top-5 in several key statistics, including:  Average Running Position, Driver Rating and Green Flag Speed.

Joey Logano Quotes

“The ‘33’ car was just running a different race than the rest of us.  It is fun to have a car like that because they don’t come around very often.  The GameStop Toyota was pretty good all night.  We ran in the top-5 and had very good pit stops.  We just couldn’t get a handle on this tire, but it was the same tire for everybody.  I think it was pretty obvious that the fastest car won the race tonight.”

“The handle of the car was just inconsistent, to say the least.  It would start ‘loose,’ then swing to ‘tight’ and would end up ‘loose’ again.  A lot of that had to do with the tire and the track surface.  This place has become one of the hardest, if not the hardest, track on tires.  Goodyear does a great job in developing tires and I’m sure this place gives them fits.  When you have a situation like that, it forces you to have to hit the perfect line every lap.  If you don’t -- if you miss it by a only few feet -- it can mess you up for several laps because the Nationwide car rely so much on momentum because of the carburetor spacer.  But everyone on the GameStop crew did a great job.  I wish I was back in the car next week, but I won’t be back until Kansas.”
